Offida, is a town of about 5000 inhabitants, located on the Marche hills at 18Km from the sea and 20 Km from the provincial capital Ascoli Piceno. The city is rich in history and the main activities are agriculture, crafts and tourism.
The ancient village enclosed by the 15th century castle walls is included among the most beautiful villages in Italy. Located on a rocky outcrop, between the valleys of the Tesino and Tronto, it is known for the art of bobbin lace, an ancient tradition, to which a museum is dedicated. The most important event taking place in Offida is the Carnival with “Lu bov fint” and “Vlurd”.
The local food and wine excellences are: the stuffed chichì (a focaccia with tuna, anchovies, capers and peppers), the “funghetti” (anise-based sweets) and the Terre di Offida DOC and Offida DOCG wines.
